The APL program was initiated by the Directorate of Repositories, Multimedia, and Publishing (RPMI) to acknowledge the local knowledge and wisdom in Indonesia. Risma Wahyu Hartiningsih from RPMI BRIN served as the moderator for the socialization event. The socialization began with a speech from the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Cooperation, "SPs UGM and BRIN share the same duty, especially in the fields of education and research. There have been many collaborations between SPs and BRIN. This socialization marks a new collaboration variant, and thus SPs UGM is committed and ready to support the success of the APL program," said Dr. Widyanto.
The second speech was delivered by Masayu Presilla, M.A., who stated that BRIN opens opportunities for works from SPs UGM faculty members and students to be acquired through the APL program. Masayu added that the works of faculty members and students could be collaborated not only internally but also across institutions.
The core event of the socialization was the presentation of the program. The first session was presented by Prapti Sasiwi. Prapti explained that there are two categories of local knowledge that can be submitted, namely books and films. Each of these categories has two different schemes. The book category includes regular schemes and work screening schemes, while the film category includes regular schemes and special workshop schemes.
In addition to offering these programs, BRIN also has a publishing contract or co-publishing with Springer that can be utilized to publish books. This was conveyed in the second session presentation by Apriwi Zulfitri. "Some of the benefits that can be obtained from this program include free publishing and even publication incentives, an internationally scaled editorial process, and global book dissemination through Springer," said Apriwi. SPs UGM's participation in BRIN-Springer publishing can open opportunities for joint research with global partnerships.
The socialization event concluded with a discussion and question-and-answer session. Dr. Riski Arisandi, S.Hut., stated, "After the socialization event, there is an overview of the review process conducted in the APL Program."
