Conceptualizing Collaboration in Realizing the Tridharma of Higher Education, Doctoral Program on Population and Research and Development, West Java

The Population Doctoral Study Program at the Postgraduate School (SPs) of Gadjah Mada University and the Regional Research and Development Agency of West Java Province initiated a collaboration to realize the tridharma pillars of higher education, namely education, research and community service. The meeting held on June 3 2024 took place in the 3rd Floor Meeting Room of the West Java Province BP2D Office, attended by Prof. Dr. Sri Rum Giyarsih, S.Si., M.Sc., Head of the Population Doctoral Study Program, Inge Wahyuni, S.K.M., M.P.P., M.T., Head of the Social and Population Division of the West Java Research and Development Research and Development Agency, as well as 10 research staff within the West Java Research and Development Agency.

This meeting was a follow-up to the West Java Balitbang working visit to the Population Doctoral Study Program which was held on May 16 2024 in Meeting Room B103, Faculty of Geography Building B. Discussions regarding the challenges of the demographic bonus in West Java Province became the main focus of the discussion and led to reflections on collaboration between academics and practitioners in responding to this issue.

Linda Al Amin, S.T., M.T., Head of West Java Province BP2D, welcomed the audience and socialization of the UGM Population Doctoral Study Program by encouraging West Java Province BP2D researchers to continue their doctoral level studies at the UGM Population Doctoral Study Program. However, BP2D West Java Province currently has no budget allocation for further study scholarships for employees. For this reason, the Head of West Java Province BP2D really hopes that ASNs who will study further at UGM's Population Doctoral Program can take advantage of the LPDP, BRIN and BPI scholarships provided by the government and the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia.

The results of this meeting will be followed up with the preparation of a PKS between the UGM Postgraduate School Population Doctoral Study Program and BP2D West Java Province in the fields of education, research and community service. The Population Doctoral Study Program continues to strive for the realization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as this activity as support for pillar 4 of the SDGs, namely the quality of education and pillar 17 of the SDGs, namely partnerships to achieve the goals.
