Interpretations and Responses on Natural Disaster

The Integrative Studies of Science, Religion and Culture

Various disasters occur not only in Indonesia territories, but also in the word. This grant offers a research grant to explore interpretations and responses on natural disaster by using the multidiscipline approach such us the scientific and religious approach, religious and cultural perspectives etc. Natural disasters here mean disaster, which happen not only naturally, but also because of human behavior, such us tsunami, earthquake, Sidoarjo’s Mud, flood, erosion, etc.

Sub Theme Description

  1. Interpretation of Natural Disaster: The integrative study of science, religion and culture. Theology, philosophy or religious social research are areas of study which are included in this research and they become main resources in understanding natural disaster. Social research will show how people understand and explain natural disaster and how people use resources which they have to overcome natural disaster. It will be resources for theological reflection which is constructive since natural disasters are understood as a natural phenomena. These reflections will become a consideration and will be relevant with ecological problems which are wider.
  2. Response to Natural Disaster: The integrative study of science, religion and culture. This response is based on multidisciplinary research approaches such us medical science, social culture, religious and scientific science, etc. Besides this, responses can be written in context of before a disaster or after a disaster. Scientific studies that are supported by practical experience can hopefully open the way to solve disasters effectively and productively.

General Recruitments
Proposal’s Format

  1. Containing innovative ideas
  2. Using Indonesian language writing rules
  3. Proposal contents : 1) Research Background and Problematical Formulation. 2) Literature Review and Theoretical approach. 3) Research Methodology. 4) Research operational planning (research team (if you have)), activities and budgeting. 5) systematical planning of report.
  4. Proposal is written in A4 paper format, line spacing is 1,5, using Arial 10 or times new roman 12.
  5. Number of pages is 10 to 15 pages
  6. Applicants can send more than one proposal

Special qualifications
Research grant : for lecturer and researcher

Qualifications:

  1. The grant is available for lecturers and researcher in all fields
  2. Applicants must have experience in research in writing articles, seminar papers, journals or books which are related to the grant’s theme (proof must be included)
  3. Recommended proposal theme is the proposal research which has been done before
  4. The proposal must be original, not plagiarized, translated or gilt . The proposal does not follow any competition.
  5. Applicants must be ready to be supervised by a supervisor (if needed)
  6. Applicants will present his/her research results at the conference which will be held in early December 2009.
  7. Applicants should enclose a copy of identity (KTP/SIM)
  8. Applicants should enclose a curriculum vitae

The amount of the grant for each applicant is Rp. 50 million. The committees will choose 3 applicants for the grant.

Research Grant: for Graduate and Post Graduate Students

Qualifications:

  1. A minimal education of graduate/post graduate, or applicants still studying at a graduate/post graduate program
  2. Applicants interested in research based on research grant theme. Research can be done for thesis, dissertation, book or scientific publication
  3. The proposal should be original, not plagiarized, translated or gilt. The proposals never follow any competition.
  4. Applicants must be ready to attend a research methodology workshop which will be held during one week (in early January 2009) and ready to be supervised by a supervisor.
  5. Applicants will present his/her research results at the conference, which will be held in early December 2009.
  6. Applicants should enclose a copy of identity (KTP/SIM)
  7. Applicants should enclose curriculum vitae

The amount of the grant for each applicant is Rp. 25 million. The committee will chose 10 applicants for the grant.
