Conference Description:


Dalam beberapa dekade terakhir, mahasiswa Pascasarjana Indonesia dalam bidang kajian lintas-disiplin menunjukkan peningkatan jumlah yang menggembirakan. Hal itu merupakan salah satu pertanda positif tentang semakin besarnya minat dan perhatian generasi muda Indonesia dalam perluasan wawasan akademis, pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan, dan sumbangsihnya bagi bangsa dan negara. Namun, disadari pula terdapatnya sejumlah kendala yang tidak mendukung pengembangan kemampuan akademis secara optimal. Kurangnya akses pada literatur dan hasil-hasil penelitian tentang Indonesia yang diterbitkan dalam bahasa asing; lemahnya kemampuan berbahasa Inggris yang menghambat partisipasi mahasiswa Indonesia dalam berbagi gagasan dan hasil-hasil penelitian dalam forum internasional; dan dalam menerbitkan karya-karya ilmiahnya di jurnal-jurnal ilmiah internasional. Dengan bekal kemampuan akademis yang tidak prima, terdapat pula kendala bagi peningkatan 'keingintahuan ilmiah' yang dapat memperkaya penelitian dan penulisan tesis/disertasinya. Kendala ini cukup signifikan mengingat sejumlah besar mahasiswa pascasarjana terdiri dari staf pengajar perguruan tinggi di Indonesia.


Di sisi lain, sarana komunikasi dengan sesama mahasiswa pascasarjana di berbagai perguruan tinggi di Indonesia dan luar negeri sebagai media bertukar gagasan dan hasil-hasil penelitian belum terbentuk secara mapan. Oleh karena itu, pembentukan suatu forum mahasiswa pascasarjana di dalam dan luar negeri melalui berbagai kegiatan akademis merupakan suatu kebutuhan mendesak. Konferensi internasional pertama kali di Indonesia bagi mahasiswa/i ini akan menjadi ajang yang bermanfaat bagi diskusi, argumentasi, dan kajian kritis hasil-hasil penelitian secara teoretis/metodologis maupun kajian praktis para mahasiswa pascasarjana yang selama ini tersimpan dalam wujud tesis/disertasi. Publikasi makalah-makalah terseleksi dalam berbagai jurnal terakreditasi dalam negeri, jurnal ilmiah internasional, dan/atau buku-buku ilmiah sebagai tindak lanjut konferensi diharapkan dapat terlaksana sebagai wujud sumbangsih ilmuwan-ilmuwan muda Indonesia dalam pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan di tingkat internasional, dan dalam kepentingan praktis bagi pembangunan bangsa dan negara.
