Yogyakarta has special features and diversity of its own attractions, starting from the name as a city of student, a city of culture, a tourist city, a warm city, and so on. Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) located in Yogyakarta, is the oldest public university in Indonesia which was established on December 19th, 1949. UGM is known as Universitas Kerakyatan (low-profile university) and has various facilities that are very adequate to support academic and non-academic activities. Gradute School as part of academic organizing unit at UGM provides infrastructure and facilities to support academic and non-academic activities. In order to facilitate students' needs for study and discussion spaces among students or between students and lecturers, Graduate School provides available rooms in each study program and common room in the 5th floor which is equipped with elevator, hotspots (WiFi areas), and teleconference to support internet-based learning.

UGM Graduate School strives to create and develop a conducive academic atmosphere by supporting the implementation of scientific activities. These activities are Wednesday Forum, Curriculum Workshop, Book Review, Talk shows, International Conferences, National Seminars, Great Thinkers and so on which take new discourses theme to develop scientific insight and knowledge.
